A cookie is a cookie is a cookie, right?
NOPE! Not here at Mix it Up Bakery. You'll never look at dessert the same after you've bitten into an Iced Sugar Cookie - baked to a caramelized perfection and topped with marshmallow-y vanilla royal icing - or some Salted Caramel Buttercream - a richness of sweet and salty that melts in your mouth and hits every area of your taste buds in perfect harmony.
So how do these desserts become so unforgettably crave-able?
FIRST - it starts with salted butter.
Wait...salted? No baker uses salted butter!
Well this bakester does, and she'll never go back! It enhances every flavor to a new depth and makes the most rich, mouthwatering buttercream.
Which, by the way, is never made with shortening!
Second is the vanilla extract. I LOVE vanilla...the aroma of soft, warm vanilla is second to none in my world. So I only use the real stuff, the good stuff... Bourbon, Madagascar, Mexican. You can see the vanilla bean flecks in the sugar cookies (so don't be alarmed!), and you can taste it's warmth, it's richness, and it's sweetness in every bite of a cupcake. It's an essential part of every delicious dessert!
Third, all of our baked goods are made to order.
What does that mean, exactly? It means that they are prepared as fresh as possible, as close to your event as possible, to ensure the best flavors for your special moments.
And last, but certainly not least, there is no fondant layer on our cakes. Yes it is pretty, and you can do very creative stuff with it. But let's be honest, who actually eats it?
So only buttercream, sprinkles, crunchies and drizzles are used to decorate the whimsical Mixed Up Layer Cakes. Which, by the way, are always custom flavored by you!
